I know that I could get it off my DD 214, but I was in the army reserve and reservists aren't issued 214's. I've already tried the national archives web site and they don't have it.

I think your wrong about reservists not getting a DD 214. I enlisted in the Marine reserves and washed out of Paris Island. My DD 214 is in a file drawer across the room. If I get a DD 214 without actually getting into the reserves, I think you should get one for getting out. I recommend contacting the nearest Army Reserve Unit. Someone there will know the correct answer.

You should definitelt have a DD214. Everyone who is discharged from the Army wether it be active or gaurd or reserves gets a DD214 once they have completed their enlistment obligation. Contact your old unit and talk to the Retention NCO...I'm sure he can get you one or give you a POC of someone at the state who has your records. Your RE code will be on the Dd214

I was told the same thing... I was medically discharged from the USAR in 2003...I completed basic training, but did not complete AIT...I received separation orders, but no DD214...I am having trouble receiving VA Benefits due to the absence of this form... My Unit was not helpful...the archives stated that one was never generated for me...I do not know where to turn!

Call your state Military Department, ask for "Enlisted Records". They'll be able to help. If that doesn't work, find a recruiter and tell them you're interested in re-enlisting, but you don't know what your code is... they'll find it ricky-tick!
