From a nasty experience my son had when he was in the Navy, he decided if the girl wasn't 21 and could prove it, he wasn't interested. He got hooked up with a 15 year old who SAID she was 19 and looked much older than 15.. The woman he finally married told me he asked to see her driver's license and examined it. She did look younger than she was.
I hope you're at least 18. It wouldn't do his Navy career any good to get mixed up with anyone under 18. If you're not 18, look for someone your own age and keep the sailor out of trouble with the law AND the Navy.
I reported that filthy 'MRICON75' and I hope you do, too.

The UCMJ says 18 regardless of the state. People in the military are subject to BOTH the laws of the state/country they reside in and the UCMJ.

All US citizens are restricted by the federal sexual exploitation laws. So regardless of what the country's age of legal consent is if you are a US Citizen (and not in the US) you cannot have sexual relations with someone under the age of 18. If you're in the US then it's back to state laws. This was because they wanted to reduce sex trafficking of minors and sex tourism.

The sailor must abide by all three. Basically it boils down to whichever law is stricter.

You forgot to say how old you are............

You should be atleast 18 - to date but write him if he asks and get to know him as a friend.

How about both of you being the legal age of adults.

I am not being nasty or narrow minded here - in the military they are all about rules and regulations. You could really make his life miserable by being under age and linked to him. Rumors don't have to be proven - they just have to be repeated around the ignorant and/or people that love to cause others pain and sorrow for no good reason.

The Navy and any state government says 18.

If you are asking this question you are too young "to be with him."

I agree with Eric. It doesn't matter what the STATE law is unless is it over 18, because the UCMJ says they must be atleast 18. Sorry charlie, unless you're 18, thats a NO GO.

whatever the state law is there for consent. Most places its 16-17. Good luck being with a sailor!!! Its really hard... 70% divorce rate. But people make it! I love my sailor very much :)

And for the 12 year old comment... sadly in some countries the military men are allowed to mess around with girls as young as 12 or 13.

Dear Jail-bait,

Please go find a nice boy your own age and forget the military men until you are 18.

12 is OK.
Is Flordia anywhere near Florida? If so, then you can date him when you're 11 and get married at 13.
