(Please, no potties, toilets and bathrooms and ESPECIALLY not restrooms, they're for humans, and in the last case, only American humans!) Who is this "they" who will take the dog away from you? It would also help to know how old this puppy is, but no matter what its age, you can crate train it and this really does work. If you don't want to do that, be sure take it outside every hour if it's a very young puppy, and keep it there until it eliminates (better word for an animal than potty etc!), then praise it and give it treats like crazy. It will soon get the message that eliminating outside is good. Bear in mind that puppies will always want to eliminate soon after waking, playing and eating.
If it has accidents inside, roll up a newspaper and hit yourself on the head for forgetting to take the dog out, clear up the mess, ignore the puppy and reward it double next time it goes in the garden.
By the way, why are we talking "it" here? Do you actually know this puppy's gender?

It doesn't take long as long as you are taking the pup outside every 2-3 hours.
And if you can't wake up every 2-3 hours at night, crate train the pup.
You shouldnt have gotten a puppy if you didn't know how to potty train, and now you might already get rid of it after a week.
Stay outside until the pup does go to the bathroom, and then give the dog a treat immediately afterwards.

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://bitly.im/aMS6j
A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

Although dogs shouldn't be attributed with having human characteristics, they are intelligent enough to be able to understand the concept of, and execute, certain actions that their owners require of them - if these actions are asked in a way that dogs find rewarding. So, with this rule in mind, owners have to be clever as well and find a way of training their dog that actually works quickly and efficiently. The eBook I wrote explains how to achieve this ideal - how to speak “dog” so that you’re able to communicate effectively with your four-legged friend.
As with any training, the best time to start is as soon as you get your new pet. The fundamentals for successful housetraining are:
- Crate training is very important so it should be mastered.
- A schedule is required for feeding and exercising.
- Be vigilant and patient throughout the training period.
House training is most likely every dog owner’s top concern. And it should begin as soon as possible. That's the very first day your dog comes into your home. If you've adopted a new furry friend and spend months in the home without aiding him/her achieve success when it comes to training then s/he’s going to set a precedence that you now need to change. So, concentrate on prevention as opposed to cure. House training comes down to one
rather simple skill - being a good dog time manager. And this means managing your pup's time so that you let them have as few chances as possible to make house training blunders.

What I suggest is those puppy pads. You slowly move them to the door so your dog will learn to go to the door when it has to go to the restroom. Toilet training a puppy can vary on time depending on what kind of dog it is and how consistent you are with rewarding it for going in the right place. Good luck to you!

What you have to do, is take your dog out within 5 minutes of eating or drinking anything! Also, at young puppy stage, it's best to feed 2 times a day at specific times. We did 5:00 am and 5:00 pm. Then, as soon as dog eats, take dog outside. Then, when dog goes outside, say something like "Good outside" or "Good potty" or whatever it is you want to be saying forever. Then, as dog gets progressively better and older, you can bring dog outside and say "Go outside" and dog will automatically know that means to do business. Eating 2 times per day is enough for a dog. Also, consider crate training. This means dog is left in crate during ANY time at all that you cannot watch dog. That means, if you have to pee, do goes into crate. If you have to go to school/work, dog goes into crate. Dogs actually enjoy crates, because that is their bed and their home and they feel safe there. You have to get one that allows for your dog to stand up, lay down, and turn around comfortable, NO BIGGER! I promise this works. Also, dogs won't usually "go" where they sleep, if they can possibly help it, so it helps out potty training. Do this for a few days and I promise it will work. That's what we did for our incredibly stubborn Jack Russell Terrier, and he is an angel now... Good luck!

Mine took 2 months, but every dog is different. Don't get frustrated, it will happen! I'm assuming you mean your parents will take it away from you. Just explain to them that these things take time. It gets so much easier after they are potty trained. This is the tough time.

It's taken me two days to train all my dogs, just reward when they go out side, and if they have something they like to potty on in your house, try moving it outside, and after a day or so, remove it, and they'll help them go outside. also, if this doesn't work, you can go to your local petsmart, and buy a post to stick in the ground, that smells like the right place to pee for them.
