This question is aimed at those who maintain an anti-choice stance and also are against birth control. In other words, the fundie uterus patrol.
Any others, I truly respect your position 100%.

vive la resistance: You miss the point entirely. I have never tried to tell another woman what she should do with *her* life and *her* body.

a very personal and a very explosive issue for sure!
There is a misconception about all the babies being easiliy adopted.
Many in US up for adoption have medical or mental defects either naturally occurring or due to mom's drug/alcohol use or due to misteatment and neglect ealry in life. Most are not newborns or babies but older kids having been in and out of foster homes having behaviour problems-would you adopt one into a home-(into a household w/ your own kids fro instance) who had a history of violent outbursts/possibly sexual offenses/setting fires/stealing/bringing undesireable types-posibly actively drug using- to the house ?
Attachment disorder for instance is common- a devastating condition not often "fixed" by the most loving adoptive parents.(see link below)
Its great to see so many writing here that they are ready to adopt but they will face many financial and emotional hurdles to actually make that final decision and many would bail out early before taking that step. Otherwise we would have all those special needs kids in adoptive homes by now.
The others who have unplanned normal kids- though they may be unprepared emotionally/financially- keep them, with varying results.
Some end up abused becasue the mothers were not ready or suited to the parent role. They may have had the option for abortion but would never choose it for either religious reasons or becasue they now have attention. So making it available to them doesn't mean they will do it. Its fashionable to some to have the baby-they have no concept of the emotional and physical needs of a child or dont intend to really do it anyway.
Everyone is happy for them -even if it is an unmarried teen or if born to troubled couples who can barely get along.... and she gets all the attention but when self sacrifice is required the kids get the raw deal.
Hopeful future parents are more and more adopting from foreign countries these days due to unavailability of normal young babies and becasue they dont want to take a chance the child here will be handicapped mentally due to the birth mom's questionable lifestyle-something that may not be dtermined until age5-6 and in school. Prevention of pregnancy for those unprepared to take that job would be the best thing.
Just some thoughts on appraoching this problem not disrespecting anyone s religious beliefs,I respect your view.

First point - Very few "fundies" are against birth control. That's basically just the Catholics, (with very few exceptions)
Are you oblivious to how many couples are out there wanting to adopt babies? It used to only be white, healthy babies but now any race is "in high demand." Couples are on 2 year waiting lists to adopt babies!
So the only "unwanted" babies out there are the handicapped. That is where you point is valid.
So a fair question would be "Anti-choicers: How many handicapped babies are you willing to adopt per year?"

Well I typically fall under most people's category of "fundie", but I'm okay with birth control. So long as it is used right. Also, the best form of birth control would be abstinence. If people wouldn't go about having sex without considering the consequences, or even unprotected sex, well, there wouldn't be so many babies to adopt, and there wouldn't be so many abortions either. This is all because people do not want to be responsible for the consequences of their actions. Oh if people would just be more responsible. But I would defiantly adopt as many children as I could support etc..

Of course you "truly respect any others"--that would be the pro-choicer's, who happen to AGREE with you. Duh!
Not against birth control, except the "morning after" pill.
Adopt? Do you have any idea how many people are out there who are desperate to adopt? That's not a good argument for you, because if it could be proven for a fact that every single child not aborted was guaranteed to be adopted, it wouldn't be enough for pro-lifer's. For people who are so concerned about their right to control their own bodies, it seems very hypocritical that you don't give that same respect to those babies you're killing. What about their rights? Their bodies?

I would love to adopt more. It's expensive to adopt, not many people can afford it. We are getting lucky with our second adoption. He started off as our foster baby, now it looks like we will get to adopt him. Since he is a foster child, the adoption will be free. There are lots of childless couples out there that want kids. The greedy adoption agencies need to make it more affordable.

I am interested in the answers you may get from this question... I am completely pro-choice but would never have an abortion myself. I am also pro-birth control and feel no one has the right to condemn a woman for using it. People need to respect women's choices even if they do not agree with them.

It may be that it's her body and that may give her the right to certain things. I however believe in being responsible for my actions.
While I'm not prepared, or willing, to adopt, I will raise and support any children that I father.
I would expect the same thing from any woman that gets pregnant just because she wants the RIGHT, to do as she pleases with body.

I don't mind the responsible use of birth control. That is only a minority Roman Catholic position, and not shared by all Christians.
Personally, I would take in 3 babies a year, if that was the only way to stop their mother from killing them! There are other people in my area that would do the same, so magnify that by A LOT OF PEOPLE.
I wasn't able to have more children, and it almost broke my heart. I don't understand people who want to have theirs cut out, chopped up, burned, and thrown in the garbage.

I believe that was the question the US South asked the North when slavery was banned in the US - well, are you going to take them all? The answer was, 'a society looks after its own'.
Christians have founded hospitals and orphanages for these children for ages. Orders of nuns have been founded for this purpose, and filled with women who dedicated their lives. So it's a bit disingenuous to imply that those who are anti-'choice to kill' have not worked hard to address this.

1) one i have no issues with abortion within reason ; rape, being young etc. etc.
2) what I do have an issue with is women who have done it time and time again as a means of birth control, its like saying well I can have sex whenever I want, be irresponsible ,and just kill an unborn child everytime I feel like it, i know lots of women who have had three of them, like please!!!!!!!!!!
3)you think only anti-abortionists have unwanted kids are you kidding me? My mother had 10 kids, they should have forced her to tie her tubes or used birth control when they took the first five of em off her. oh wait they didnt, and she had five more that they took too, thank god I was adopted............................oh wait maybe i could say i wish she had aborted me instead.........nope can say that, still glad im here, just that I didnt have to grow up with that thing.....
