I believe the church as a whole is a mother to each individual in the church.

The Church is not our Mother; she is us, the body of all believers. The Church is the bride of Christ as woman is the bride of man. God is our Father, and if you have a particular need to think of His female counterpart, it is the Holy Spirit.

Actually, I can see how you make that connection. If you are a Christian, I mean really born again- then you are somewhat "like" Christ. Jesus was 'fathered' by the Word of God. Mary was the vessel. Jesus was begotten because Mary "believed" what God said through the angel. Christians are "begotten" by the Word. That is, they believe what God said about Jesus, and the church (body of believers) is the vessel.
Edit: we are all children of God (Christians), and the church carries that message.

Yes, Catholics call the Church "mater eclatistra" which means she is our mother and teacher. I am not sure though whether I got the Latin right, though.
Peace and every blessing!

No, I look at the church as the body of Christ composed of all my born again brothers and sisters as the Bible teaches.

No, and that is about the last way I would consider any organization. My mom is my mom, nothing will ever replace her and what she did by bringing me into the world.
