Don't feed your dog human food. There are too many reasons to name why just please don't do it. Not only does it spoil them and teach them to beg but many human foods are toxic to dogs and cats.

NONE, the dog should not eat ANY table food. It is fine though to take a whole chicken, break it down and put it in about 2-3 gallons of water with some onion, carrot and celery all chopped up. cook over med low for 3-4 hours and let it sit off the heat until cool enough to put in fridge. let chill completely and then you can get all the fat off the top. You just strain and use, mix about 1/2 cup with some milk replacement for dogs (for calves works just as well) and mix it with the dry food, and a little olive oil for their coat. They'll look great but add it a little at a time cause if you're not careful you can upset their stomachs.

Yes it should be fine. Almost of all human food is great for dogs to eat, there are some food that is poisonous for them. There are a list of food that is poisonous to dogs on the site below. But when feeding you dog food that you are having, make sure you would eat it before feeding it to your Chihuahua. So if you would cut off a piece of steak off and throw it into the garbage then don't cut it up for your puppy.

no matter what you hear (and if you ask me, it's kind of a conspiracy involving pet food companies, etc.) it IS ok to feed your dog home-made food. now, that doesn't mean casseroles, burgers, hot dogs, etc., but it does mean that you can have a very healthy dog from feeding them home food. you'll need to find either a very good and honest vet, or someone very knowledgeable about doggie nutrition to get the proportions right. right now we feed my dog dick van patten's eatables. it's a combination of potato, beef, carrot and a bit of tomato. basically, it's protein, carbs and some veggies. if you give your dog plain meats or complex carbs (like brown rice) and a bit of veggie even, it should be fine. just make sure it's unseasoned and not made with onion or garlic. also, adding low sodium or homemade chicken broth to dry food is TOTALLY fine, especially if your dog has a hard time with eating dry food. sometimes, when you feed a dog beef or something that tasty, they don't want to eat their kibble again! and can you blame them? otherwise, it's fine unseasonsed and not in the correct proportion.

Not usually because the dry food has a tendency to spoil and make the dog sick. Also if you use canned broth, they have way too much salt in them for dogs. It's really better for dogs not to eat table food because their digestive systems are easily upset with the seasonings and additives that we put in our food. I don't allow my chihuahua/fox terrier mix to eat table food on her vet's advice because I want her to live a long, happy life!

It is not wise to start giving any dog human food, if this is the basis of his diet. Dog food is made specifically to suits the needs of dogs and this is what a dog, or puppy should have, above all else. I recommend you feed your puppy the same diet as his, hopefully, reputable breed has weaned him onto. This will ensure he gets all the nourishment he needs, and his tummy isn't upset by a switch to something different. You can of course feed cooked chicken breast, white fish and rice, but he will need the proper vitamins and supplements to compliment this. As his breeder, and follow his advice. Food that is bad for dogs includes chocolate, especially dark chocolate, onions, grapes and rasins.

Not a good idea. Many prepared items such as broth contain a number of seasonings that may be dangerous for your pet. There is a gravy product for dogs in your pet food aisle or at your pet store. I'd try that if you little chi needs some incentive to eat his dinner.

Meats:
Meats should be boneless with the skin is removed.
If you cook meat do not over cook. Keep it 'rare' so you don't kill the enzymes. Especial for sick animals.
All Fish (no tuna) and Pork must be well cooked.

Yes it is. As a matter of fact when you bring a new puppy home most breeders recommend pouring chicken broth over their kibble to give them an energy boost. Chicken is high in protein, so it is also ok to occasionally give them boiled chicken breast. Of course it needs to be homemade so you can monitor what is in it.
