I would toast them, then spread with butter, and just wolf them down before they go cold. Scrumptious...
I know what you mean about the jam and cream... some people seem to like smurfs pounded to a thick blue jam on their scones, but to me, that's the same kind of thing...

I have eaten some orange cranberry scones that are out of this world and do not need anything on them. On plain scones, I love adding clotted cream and some type of jam.

I agree that jam or cream is too much on a scone, i just have a little butter on mine along with a cup of tea. Mmmmmm.

Don't care about the fat and Sugar, if you're gonna have a scone, you need Jam and clotted cream. MMMM perfect.

I love nutella on them. But if its something savoury u crave, try melting some chees on them. Or raisin scones(fruit scones)are lovely.
