Could someone please help!!! I have recently had a cold and fairly bad sore throat and I also have an ultra dry irritation in the back of my throat CONSTANTLY... Every time I try to cough for some relief... nothing happens. Coughing doesn't do anything to relieve it, not even for a second. I am damaging my throat because of coughing so hard. I have tried drinking lots of water, gargling with salt water and herbal teas. I have tried all types of cough medicine but to no prevail. Has anyone got any suggestions? It will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

It sounds like you might need to see the doctor

if the dryness is at the top of the back of the throat you may have a sinus infection along with your cold and the drainage is irritating your throat.. if you are having runny nose or a lot of mucus it could be a simple solution of decongestant/sinus medicine.. if that doesn't help i suggest a doctor visit.. this is the time of year when strep throat is at its worst! salt water and cough medicine won't kill a bacteria it may take an antibotic.. good luck..

i am suffering with the same symptoms but i have uncontrollable and embarrassing coughs, with phlegm w/ it.
i keep excusing myself when i cough because it is irritating to me and i feel imposing on others. i am a veteran and will go to va hoping to find a specialist it they probe this i will share results, treatment and solutions or even go to an alternative medicine specialist. PEOPLE DO NOT UNDERSTAND THIS IS STRANGE AND CRAZY. I started this all of a sudden in 2004 it lasted for 6 months then stopped then tried to come back in 2005 and lasted for three weeks until i drank some Echinacea Tea. Now it is back again in 2007
for about 4 weeks , now it is more difficult to control. it you hear of anything please email me and vice versa.
