Make sure that any of the places they would want to build a nest are closed off with screen or something. Originally, they nested on cliffs; in the town, they usually build nests in openings on buildings; look for shelf-like places or holes and openings on the outside of the house, where pigeons rest. Put up screen or something to keep them from nesting there.
Don't let anybody feed them.
You will not get many pigeons around your house unless they are nesting on the property, or they are getting food there.
I'm sure that you don't mind a few of them passing through, but they can be a nuisance if there are too many.

Alternate between owl and snake decoys.Move them to different places in your yard or on your house.If you leave them in the same place for to long the pigeons will become accustomed to them and not see them as a threat.

Get one of those high power water guns like a supper soaker, quietly go out and blast them when you can catch them asleep, this really worked for me, an exterminator told me this, they are actually intelligent birds so they will remember not to roost there anymore after they get wet and scarred a few times.

You can get powdered feces and urine deterant from large cats. That works sometimes. Call an exterminator and see what they have to say.
