I need soda to "calm my nerves". Who knows, maybe it's all in my head but that's why I'm asking. If I don't have at least a couple of sodas (preferably pepsi) a day I get really adjitated, get headaches and just feel all around uneasy. How can I leave the soda alone??

Like any other addiction, it isn't always easy. I would
suggest you cut back gradually, otherwise you will be
having headaches and uneasyness. Have one caffeine
drink (coffee, coke) a day preferably before noon. Then
drink decaffeinated (decaf coffee or sprite, juice) stuff
the rest of the day. Keep the caffeinated drinks as far
away from bedtime as possible and you'll sleep better.
Hope this helps...remember to do gradually.

You do need to. Especially if it is not diet Pepsi. If it's not diet, you are addicted to the sugar as well as the caffeine.
You need to start weening yourself off of it. Start drinking just the diet soda and have only 1 a day. Get a bottle and pour half in a glass/cup. Sip on it. Then when you would be having your next soda, you drink the other half.

I used to drink TEN 20oz. cups of coffee a day. That is 200 oz. I now drink ONE 20 oz. cup of coffee a day. And no other caffeine. If I miss a day, I don't get a headache or feel bad.

After going to college at Berkeley and buying famously delicious Cafe Strada Cappucinos almost every day, I was a complete coffee junkie. I occasionally "detox" by switching to poor-quality coffee for one week, then switching to black tea and tapering down to green tea for a few weeks. I have sometimes gone one step further and gone down to decaf green tea.

I once even took clay powder and activated charcoal (which is what they use to detox heroin addicts and in poison control centers). I did this cold turkey and got SLAMMED with a headache and bad neck (nerve trauma?). Wow. Don't do that.

Many people say it's easy to switch to tea right away and then quit cold turkey, but I can empathize with you- for some reason I seem more addicated to caffeine than most people.
I never had an addictive personality when it came to beer or wine, dont do drugs, but boy when it comes to coffee, chocolate, xbox, and yahoo answers, I am a basket case addict. Good luck.

Take caffeine pills with your "health beverages".
