First of all, good for you in being proactive about your health! Even though birth control pills don't protect against STDs, they are a responsible way to prevent pregnancy when you know you're not ready to be a parent. When you go for your visit, relax! They talk to people about this stuff all the time, and they're certainly not going to judge you in any way. Likely they'll just ask about your sexual history (so they can advise you on other/supplemental birth control options), as well as your medical history. They'll ask about your medical history to make sure that you won't have any complications with the pill, and they'll ask if you're on other medications. Overall, they just want to make sure that you're healthy enough for the pill and that you understand what to expect and how to properly prevent pregnancy until you're ready. They will probably do a physical (pelvic) exam too, because I don't think they're permitted to prescribe birth control unless you've been examined and had a PAP. This is more uncomfortable and embarassing than painful, but it's necessary to get the prescription.
Make sure you ask them ANY questions you have -- it's better to feel silly now (even though you likely won't ask a silly question) than to be unsure later! They've heard it all, and they're available to make sure you're informed. Good luck!

the clarification you % to take a pelvic examination and do different costly issues is via the fact that's not secure to easily initiate taking a random delivery administration pill. Your pal might desire to have situations that propose she might desire to take a a techniques better or decrease dose of estrogen, or maybe she has a venture that would desire to make it risky to take any hormonal delivery administration in any respect. it extremely is, of direction, unlikely, yet as with every medicine you're taking part in a volatile sport with the help of purely taking random pills.

First they will go over your family history and your medical history. Then they will do a physical exam(pelvic and pap smear and breast check) and they may draw blood for STD/pregnancy tests. It's all pretty uncomfortable, but not painful. Good for you for being proactive and taking care of your body...you've only got one. Don't be nervous, the actual exam is only like 10 min and it's over before you know it. Good luck!

I got my first perscription for BC from planned parenthood aswell. They did a physical exam & pap smear. The pap might sound scary but it's really not that bad, and is over in a minute. They will ask you the norm regarding your health /habits, such as smoking and exercising.

They will ask about your sexual history (how many partners, etc) and perform a complete gynecological exam. Then they'll give you an Rx for the pill.
The exam involves gloved hands, fingers and a metal tool to examine you inside, but it doesn't hurt. They make sure they can feel your ovaries, uterus and take cells from your cervix to check for cancer.

they dont just hand you the pills- they will give you a pelvic exam first
might ask about family history of high bp, smoking, blood clots, heart disease, ect.
im sure your mother would be able to answer more of those questions on a personal level.
