Please define "lazy".

I was worried about our puppy too.

She would sleep for hours and then get up and run around like crazy for 20-30 minutes then crash again. Ends up, it's a puppy thing. They need lots of sleep.

She also gets zonked out a lot right before she goes through a growth spurt.

"lazy" is a symptom in many common puppy diseases. for example, Parvo, Canine Distemper Virus, numerous types of parasitic worm infections, and then different bacterial infections on top of that.
OR, as many of the others have pointed out before me, sometimes a puppy just needs a nap before it takes off running and playing again.

if you think it's a problem, you should definately take him to your vet.

Yes,puppies up to about 4 to 5 months spend more time sleeping than anything else.Just like a human baby ( except it takes longer for the human baby to get real active )

It depends on what you mean by “lazy.”

If you mean he sleeps a lot, then yes, that’s very normal. Puppies need a lot of sleep and sleep often throughout the day.

If you mean he is uninterested in playing, then no, that’s not normal and there may be a health problem causing such lethargy.

All puppies sleep a lot- they are babies, after all. If he doesn't get up to play at all and just lays around all day, there's probably something wrong and he should see a vet. But if he plays, eats, poops, and then sleeps for hours on end, he's just fine.

Rottweiler puppies all have their own personalities.

Puppies do sleep a lot, and that can be mistaken for being lazy.

When my pup, 2-1/2 months old became quiet and rested all the time, I took her to the vet and she had hookworms. He gave her medicine and she pooped em out and was playful and happy again in a few days. Most pups have worms from their mommies milk.

Well he's still really little!

Make sure he's going to the b/r ok & urinating ok.

If not, then take him to the vet. But he's or she is still growing so they may need more time to nap at first.

I don't think so. Are you aware of the dog/cat food scare? Could this be a symptom?

No . . . make sure he doesn't have heartworms, that does make them not feel like doing anything.
