To be a poet is not ordinary. To be a poet is communicating your mind in a very loquacious and artful way. Few have this ability.

POET !!! (smile)

There are no qualifications, licenses, or degrees required. If you write poetry, you are a poet. If you have the drive to create these beautiful works of art with your words, you are a poet. If you see the world and need to get it down on paper, you are a poet. I would never list being "famous" as a requirement for being a poet, particularly because most published poets nowadays are not household names!

Now, if you want to be a published poet then you will need to start submitting pieces to magazines or literary journals that accept poetry similar to what you write.

For me, being a poet is showing other's your perspective on the world. It's expressing yourself, unqiuely, with words. A poet can find the beauty and the ugly in everything.
