Lines. Girls hate them, but if they're funny, or if they like you, they work anyway.
How about:
Wanna dance?

Those are the coolest shoes I've ever seen.
You've got amazing hair.
If you have a shot, any of the above will work. Or you could just point to your throat and pretend you have laryngitis all night. If you have a shot, THAT will work. It's not so much about what you say. Except if you sound like a dumb-***. Then it really is. Just be careful out there.

One of my guy friends purchased a copy of "The Game" which suggested carrying around bits of different colored lint that you could pull off a girl's shirt and use it to tease her.
If this sounds absurd to you - so should pick-up lines! Don't put that much thought into what you should say to a girl. It honestly doesn't matter if she's attracted to you.
I like the post above mine where he said, "Hi, I'm Joe." It sounds like he knew what he was doing : )
