In regards to the cigarettes, it really depends on who is running the register. If the supermarket won't try one of those little bodegas or small grocery shops.
If your an attractive 17 female you should have no problems getting served in most bars. If your a male it's a little more difficult. Sit down & place a $20 on the counter-when you have the bartenders attention, ask for a specific beer, like you do it all the time. If he serves you, tip him a dollar each time you get a beer.

No. That only means they don't need a guardian signature and can live by theirself. It doesn't change the law and allow minors to purchase cigarettes or alcohol.

Nope.
The people behind the counter look at the DOB on your license - they don't care how many court orders you show them.
You will have to wait a while before you can pick up these bad habits.

NO, federal laws state that you have to be 18 to purchase cigarettes and 21 to drink alcohol.

you may be free from a gardian but state laws still apply. if they didn't a lot more kids would do it just for the perks.
