I prefer Papillions. You can train them to be well behaved easier than Shelties and they aren't as territorial.

I absolutely love shetland sheep dogs, and I also don't like small, yappy, nippy dogs. But most shelties that I have met are VERY sweet. Some people say that they bark a lot and nip at your heels, but I have never met one like this. My grandparents have had 4 of them, and they were all very calm sweet dogs, never barked unless someone was walking by the house or something, and even then it was only like a warning bark. None of them even put their mouth on a human. And I work at a vet clinic, and all of the shelties that I have met at work are also calm sweet dogs. American Eskimos are sweet also. I don't like papillons because they are too small for me. But otherwise nice dogs.

Papillons can be a bit yappy, and shelties need lots of exercise. The true (in my opinion) big dog in a little dog's body is the pomeranian. It's a miniaturized sled dog.

The Eskimo, a LOT of grooming, can be nippy.
The Sheltie, great attitude, a good deal of grooming but most of them enjoy it and easy to train. They only become nippy if allowed or encouraged to be that way.
The Papillion, lovable personality. Not too bad on the grooming, they are small. They also can become nippy if allowed to. Very intelligent and easy to train.
I vote for the Papillion.

Hi, I can answer to a sheltie definately because I own 3 myself and have bred and raised at least 20 of my own Katie's pups. They are loyal, protective and great companions. I love them to pieces. I also have a pomeranian and he is a sweet little boy. Good luck with your choice.

neither actually, both are pretty small dogs and so usually they're timid around strangers and big dogs

Pomeranians are better then either because even though its smaller then either one it will go up to big dogs and strangers and its also a very protective dogs so even though it ways less than 5 pounds it'll protect u (or try to) from a 200 pound man

hope this helps! ;-)

Big dog in a small dog's body?
I guess "Cavalier King Charles Spaniel".

If it's out of the two you chose, then Papillion for sure!
