The only way to get more back is to have more withheld from each paycheck through the year. If you want a smaller paycheck, have more tax withheld and you'll get a bigger refund.

Make sure you fill out your W-2's as Single, 0. Also you can have an additional amount of your choosing withheld, I usually do about $15.00, it's basically like putting that 15 into a savings account, but you get it back with your tax return - helps ensure that you won't owe at the end of the year, and leads to a fatter return!

I've always had my employer take out an extra 20 - 25 dollars for federal and 5-10 for state, and I claim no dependents. And if youve had ALOT of dr bills etc, you could itemize, but make sure you have receipts for EVERYTHING:-)

Your RETURN is the document you send the IRS. You can increase your REFUND by $5200 by having your employer withhold an extra $100 per week. What you should be asking is, "How can I minimize my tax liability (the amount the IRS keeps)." Your question does not suggest any itemized deductions. Without itemized deductions, you can't do much.
