Ok 2 things.
People don't always choose to be fat, sometimes it's the DNA causing slow metabolism.
but I can't really defend smoking since I never did it

It depends why you are "killing yourself". if you die in defense of your religion (this is also in Islam) then that's different then just stabbing yourself to death. Or if you die for a good cause, like trying to save someone then you go to heaven Its called martyrdom.
And when you commit suicide that's it, your dead. You cant help it.
When you have a habit of eating and you are obese you can still live.
It will be an unhealthy life, but you will most likely live. Not everyone who is obese or a smoker dies. But everyone who commits suicide dies. Except for those miracle stories when somehow you survived jumping off a skyscraper. But how often does that happen?

i'm straying from the question a little but i don't think suicide is wrong. if i get old and reach a point in my life where i have accomplished all i set out to do then i'll probably end my own life. its better than waiting for something horrible to happen to me. i like the idea of being able to choose how i go. yes, suicide is tragic in many cases, i'm not debating that but i have a relative that committed suicide and i don't look down on him at all for it. it was his choice and, right or wrong, he did what he wanted to do. not everything goes the way we want it to but that gives us no right to label someone as being wrong for making his/her own decisions.

Wicked question! You've got a good point about the smoking and obesity thing.. maybe because it's gradual and it (mostly) unintentionally causes death that it may be classified different to suicide... im not sure.

Some Christians believe that it is deliberately walking away from God because the last act is a murder. Those other things aren't always Oh, I wanna die things. Death is just the consequence for doing those things.

Suicide is never the answer for any problem... With humanity being so close to the conclusion of the system of things, you would think, most would stick around to see it's finality.

I don't know why a Christian would believe any of those things. I've seen nothing in the Bible about them. I would agree that that would be a contradiction, though.

People shouldn't be saying whether or not others will go to heaven because ONLY God KNOWS. He knows our hearts. I don't think smoking is good and it might even be a sin because the Bible says to protect our bodies...
