He's 7. Every night the moaning and groaning starts near bed time. Supposedly aches all over - headache, all over. We brought him to the doctor and everything looks normal. During the day he's playful with his friends and brothers. He did leave school one day complaining of a headache. He claims the aches don't bother him during the day because he's distracted with activities and friends. Anyhow - I can't tell for sure if he's fakin' or really in pain. Any parents ever run into this conundrum?

Could he just want more 'you' time? Sometimes mine play 'sick' when they need more of my attention. If he's still complaining and the doc says he's fine and there are no problems at school then I'd look into another doc or possibly a counselor. Good luck, don't give up, he only has you to help him.

yes i have, my kids do this all the time. especially when they have to go to take a shower and get ready for bed. i mean they go from grin to frown in 2.3 seconds. i started to do the same thing they do"trick me". i tricked them into thinking i would have to rush them off to the doctor or the emergancy room, they are going ot have to open you up and sees whats making you feel this way. dont worry it wont hurt for that long and you will be fine...........i then say the next day when they try this again..............oh my gosh whatever you had is back, grab your coat and lets go to the hospital. instantly it is gone!! it happens for a couple of more days then it is over.good luck.

When you tell him your going to take his tempature rectally-if he's really sick he may not mind. If he's faking it, chances are he will suddenly get better and want to go to school. Say he'll have to go to a doctor and maybe get a shot. That may work as well.

All you have to do is tell them they can't play or go outside sense they are so sick - betcha they will instantly become well again.
