That certainly goes against the Bible's teachings!!!!!!
1 Peter 3:7: "YOU husbands, continue dwelling in like manner with them according to knowledge, assigning them honor as to a weaker vessel, the feminine one, since YOU are also heirs with them of the undeserved favor of life, in order for YOUR prayers not to be hindered."
Ephesians 5:25: "Husbands, continue loving YOUR wives, just as the Christ also loved the congregation and delivered up himself for it,"
Ephesians 5:28-31: "In this way husbands ought to be loving their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself, 29 for no man ever hated his own flesh; but he feeds and cherishes it, as the Christ also does the congregation, 30 because we are members of his body. 31 “For this reason a man will leave [his] father and [his] mother and he will stick to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.”
As for the case that you stated...absolutely not (was justice served)!!!!That goes against everything that the Bible teaches!I love the following Scripture, which shows how we should all feel about each other...including husbands for wives and wives for husbands....
John 15:12 & 13: "This is my commandment, that YOU love one another just as I have loved YOU. 13 No one has love greater than this, that someone should surrender his soul in behalf of his friends."
Jesus gave up his life so that we might have life...where does abuse fit into love like that!!!!!!!

This is an example of following the "letter of the Law" (in this case the Quran, rather than the truth.
It is wrong to abuse others.
Edit: This just came to me, you asked 2 Q.
1. Was justice served? Yes it was. The judge was removed because his argument for spousal abuse is wrong whether it is supported by the Quran or not.
2. Is answered in the first part of my response.
As an addendum, As a Christian, I must remember that in the long run, and in His time, perfect justice will be served by the One Righteous Judge. Ultimate justice belongs to the Lamb of God.

Hmmm...the Judge was simply arguing from the Quran. If the couple before him were Muslims and they believe in it, and want to follow it, then, I suppose, the Judge would be correct.
Was justice served? Yes...any Judge who would condone abuse in any form ought to be removed.
So where does this leave us?
I would suggest not getting involved in a Muslim marriage.....

There is a saying where I am currently living (Mediterranean):
If a man comes home after work he should slap his wife.
It doesn't matter if he doesn't know what she did, She Does.
Americans are often shocked at these kinds of 'beliefs' as I am. Abuse of any kind is wrong, but I don't see how the Quran will be deemed Wrong in the near future. It's sad.

That is one of the reasons that church and state need to be separate. Because something is 'allowed' or 'forbidden' in a particular religion, it should have no effect on the laws of the land.
It is akin to the homosexual marriage fight in the US - in reverse.
