Advanced Pacemaker—Patients with irregular heartbeats can lead healthy, active lives, even swim, dance and jog, with the help of the advanced pacemaker. The implanted device senses irregular heartbeats and automatically delivers an electrical stimulus to get the heart back on track. NASA's two-way communication technology, first used to communicate with satellites, allows doctors to fine-tune the pacemaker from outside the body to better regulate the heart rate in keeping with the patient's lifestyle.
