I have a cousin with autism and he wouldn't look anyone in the eye at 9 months. It was obvious then.

I think they can start diagnosing autism from about 18 to 24 months.

Autism is usually diagnosed around the age of three but you can see signs much earlier. Usually you can tell at a young age because the communication skills aren’t as developed.

18 months, start with the pediatrician. They will direct you to a neurologist if that's the case. The pediatrician could also send you to a developmental center nearby to evaluate the child further. They will direct you to the neurologist. I will say though, most aren't diagnosed till 24-30 months.
