Tell God:
+ You messed up
+ You are sorry
+ You will try better

Then live your life as you told God you would.

With love in Christ.

Eating meat on a Lenten Friday isn't a huge sin or anything, but if a person felt bad about it and wanted to do something about it, I would suggest abstaining from meat on Saturday. Or find another way to make a sacrifice in your life. Or even better, go out and do a good deed.

If it was a case of you forgot about it being a Friday in Lent, just forgive yourself and resolve to remember next week.

It is not a sin if you forgot. It is a sin if you purposely ate meat out of defiance of teh Catholic Church, the church established by Jesus Christ

It depends on WHY you ate meat. Did you eat meat accidentally, did you eat meat because it was the only food available, or did you eat meat as a way of rebelling against Christ's Church?

I'm not a catholic so I don't worry about eating meat on Fridays...but...i don't see how not eating meat on fridays gets you any closer to God, u know?...God made food, including meat, for us to eat...so, if you're really worrying about it, repent and ask God for forgivness.

ken - it happens! it's not a "sin" just a disappointment - probably more so to yourself as you failed in a committment. you might want to make sure you don't eat it the rest of the day and then maybe tack on saturday but.... unless you said -- hey forget this, Jesus you really did nothing for me i'm eating meat to spite you.... it was an honest mistake~

Confess and repent and if anyone gives you a hard time show them this passage from the Bible.

Romans 14:2 One person believes he may eat anything, while the weak person eats only vegetables. 3 Let not the one who eats despise the one who abstains, and let not the one who abstains pass judgment on the one who eats, for God has welcomed him.

4 Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make him stand. 5 One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. 6 The one who observes the day, observes it in honor of the Lord. The one who eats, eats in honor of the Lord, since he gives thanks to God, while the one who abstains, abstains in honor of the Lord and gives thanks to God.

Depends----
1. You totally forgot it was Lent? No big deal.

2. You thought what you ordered was meatless- and it wasn't and you started eating it.( that happened to me yesterday). Go ahead and finish.

for #1 and #2- pick another day to go meatless, or choose another act of sacrifice. You can't sin on accident!

NOW....if you deliberately choose to eat to ignore the laws of abstinance you should go to confession

If it goes against your ways ...

Don't continue to eat meat on Friday.

God in his greatness is beyond those things. God's grace is our salvation, not deeds and rituals.
