Sushi doesn't cause cancer, but there may be some concern about the salt in the soy sauce that goes with it.
Stomach cancer used to be the most common cancer in the US ~1900 when they used salt as a preservative, and the incidence has dropped since then. The combination of high salt intake and Heliobacter pylori infection can significantly increase the risk of stomach cancer.

I have never heard of such a thing and while any food can potentially cause illness (hence poisoning) there is nothing in sushi per se that could cause cancer. The only thing I can think of is environmental pollutants, but that is a risk with any food you consume, not just sushi.
In fact, there is even some evidence that wasabi, which many folks eat along with their sushi, may even have anti-carcinogenic properties. Check out:

Absolutely not! Just the opposite in fact. If the sushi is fresh and from a reccommendable market, then many fish contain antioxidents that help prevent cancer. Sushi is very healthy for you.

I don't thinks so....Unless you consume bad batches contaminated with high mercury levels or other bad metals than its fine...I mean the Japanese eat sushi like its water and their country has some of the lowest cancer rates in the world....and the Japanese live the longest....Many more people surpass 100 years in Japan, than does in the U.S....The far east knows the human body better than anyone else.....In fact i think they may have there own cure for cancer that they will finally bring out........i think they will find the absolute cure, within the next 100 years or so

No it won't lead to cancer. How many people do you know who eat sushi? How many of them do you know who think that sushi gave them cancer? No one knows why one person will get cancer but another one will not. There is no scientific evidence connecting sushi to cancer. So . . enjoy it . . and don't worry. Carpe diem.

There is a little danger of beig infected by "anisakis", if the fish used in sushi or shashimi has not been frozen before use
Take a look at
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anisakis
But cancer has nothing to do with rice, fish, etc.

Not as such, but maybe through contaminated fish. Fish (esp. fat fish) do accumulate pollutants, especially heavy metals and PBCs. In addition, they stink (hey, just joking, I know fish is very healthy food, I'm just trying to justify myself not eating it. I'm just NOT able to stand any seafood, it gives me nausea).
I think they are mainly trying to ward off any suing on those issues, in case somebody comes up with a money-making idea that eating their fish gave them cancer, so that they should pay for treatment. Kind of like the obese people suing McDonalds.

No no and no. Maybe they had something bad in their sushi? I have no idea why they had a sign that said that.
