I love hot and spicy foods and they don't always give me problems. But excessively spicy foods give me the hiccups almost instantly. Why?

the spicy food is irritating your diaphragm...that's how most hiccups are caused...those are the explanations most medical professionals will tell you...due to the lack of knowledge of what really causes them...
hiccups are also a preventive measue to keep you from choking...
maybe your allergic to something in the extra spicy food...just be careful and avoid the foods that cause this type of reaction...

Mild hiccups are a reaction to hot and spicy foods or too much alcohol.
