When I was younger, up until I was 18, I never needed deodorant. I could work out actively and never stink. But now, I need deodorant to keep from smelling. Why??? I read that sweat does not actually stink, it's the bacteria or germs on your skin that stink, and sweat just magnifies the smell. So I always kept my armpits clean, and I thought it was working. But now it doesn't help. When I shower everyday, I take extra time out to clean my pits, but I still stink!! How do I kill the bacteria? I don't want to cover up the smell. I want to get rid of it, and go back to the days when I didn't need deodorant! Is there anything I can do??? Because soap alone isn't working. Should I shave my pits? Would that help? I hate that I need deodorant.

Obviously the bath and deodorant are not enough. Try a stronger deodorant like Mitchum's. You could also try Baking Soda. If all else fails, see a doctor.

Ah puberty...

Trim the hair a bit--don't shave!!--and use an antibacterial soap to wash your pits. Use antiperspirant/deodorant, not just deodorant.

Wearing clean clothes every day wouldn't hurt either!

Because after you've been through puberty your glands change. It is perfectly natural and normal to wear deordarant when you are older and not need it when you are younger.
