They were probably just spraying for rats in the factory. At least thats what I hope. How terrible!

I heard on the news that the wheat was bought from China and they were using rat poison to kill the rats (obviously) but some accidentally got in the pet food.

I am wondering why we are importing grain from China? I read in a news report that grain used in the manufacturing of the tainted pet food was imported from China. I am not sure if it is a poorer quality or just cheaper than American grown.
I know that there is a different standard for ingredients that are intended for animal consumption rather than human consumption. I am not sure if the quality control is therefore less stringent for that reason. Regardless, I am sure rat poison is not on the list of acceptable things.
Too bad the food was not recalled much sooner.

No body....
Simply a cow from over seas ate a poisoned rat or dead rat and the cow's meat processed into pet food
and no body detect the poisoned meat in the slaughter house when they slaughtered the cow
i don't know why the scientist do research and do a big deal see how it is simple looool

The manufacturer most likely is the culprit. For that many animals to be stricken-ed, it sounds like the rat poison was accidentally or intentionally added to some ingredient used to make the food. Wheat, maybe.

I don't think anyone intentionally put rat poison in pet food.

I honestly don't know. I don't think a disgruntled employee would stoop so low. It was a rare toxin, too. It used to be used for enducing abortions years ago and is only used as rat poison in certain countries. I hope they find out who it was and send them to jail. Thank god my dogs only eat dry food.
