I went to an open day and found it sooooooo depressing... But I know it's supposed to be a good university. Are there many European and international students???

I was born and live in Leicester so yes. I left to go to uni in another city and kinda regret it now. I would say its actually a really good university, it all depends on how the course you want to attend stands in The Times University listing. First thing I would say is check the course and its rating before you consider. Socially there is De Montfort Uni as well, so people tend to go to both campuses for a night out.

The campus is in the city, and it can look a bit built up if you just see that bit, but Leicester has some beautiful sites in and around it that you probably didn't see when you visited.

Depends what you like, if you like history, then Bradgate park and its wild deer and ruins of Lady Jane Grey's birthplace is beautiful. If you like pubs and bars, then there is bloody loads! the majority of them are student friendly and lots offer discounts.

As for the international question then you are onto a winner! Leicester is currently one of the most multi cultural cities in the UK, and we dont tend to get the racism trouble that other cities get. We have a really good mix of asian, african and eastern european residents and there are lots of events throughout the year that people of different nationalities travel across the country to visit.

You dont get the trouble you get in other cities when we have them. we also have lots of market stalls, grocers and shops from all of the different nationalities that makes it really easy to get different foods from across the world really quite cheaply!

Try having a look at some of the Leicester websites on line and see what you think. Dont rule it out though, most of my mates met at Leicester or Demontfort University and have stayed here.

Hope this helps x

The city itself is okay - not great but it has everything you need. As for the campus - it may not look like much, but it is actually really good. There are plenty of places to eat, and its nice and compact. Some friends at other uni's had to walk miles between lecture theaters and halls etc etc.

Leicester is the a.rsehole of the country. Such a boring dump. And full of pasty faced veggies who smell like manure.
