Some say Takamatsu was the last true Ninja by blood. But I don't think he was the unique Ninja living in his time, maybe there were also others, specially the ones who worked as spies during the war against the Russians and then China.

Takumatsu was, as Soke Hatsumi Sensei says "the last combat ninja"....because he participated in espionage against Manchuria during the Japanese occupation in WWII, and he engaged in life or death combat against Chinese boxers during those same years.

Hence his nickname, "The Mongolian Tiger".

Hatsumi Soke has incredible skill, but even so, he calls Takamatsu Sensei that term for a reason.

As to whether you call Hatsumi Soke that or not, why not ask him yourself? His Dojo is in Noda, Japan....just outside of Tokyo.
