Maybe he might be allergic to something...have you any pets or something in the house. Try giving him piriton or piriteeze and see if it calms it!

As previous posters have said, it could be allergies or hayfever.

Also how's his vision? Has it been checked recently?
Is he just overtired? Maybe he's developing a stye in his eye (which can actually affect both).

Are they streaming, has he got gunk in them or are they just itchy? If just itchy it sounds like tree pollen hayfever. Although if hayfever, it maybe another pollen he's allergic too (I only say tree pollen cos that normally is earlier in the year than grass pollen etc).

If he's getting gunk in them, I'd suggest conjunctivitis which is contagious, so either way, if it's been going on more than a few days, you really need to get him to a doctor and see what they say.

I'm just dealing with this myself, caught it from my Daughter, our GP reckons, viral conjuntivitis, as opposed to the bacterial one.
We dont have any stickyness of gunk, just, red, watery & prickly, GP said to bathe in clean cool water, & dont rub,
but I'm finding steam inhalations.......towel over a bowl of boiling water, with a few drops of lavender oil is clearing it pretty quickly.

its always a good idea to get a GP to check it out, but its likely to be this, & if its an on going thing, then hayfever of some sort, if your in the UK, then apparently certain trees are affecting people at the moment...saw it on a news programe a few days ago
good
luck

He has an infection or allergies. Take him to the doc and get this treated especially if it turns out to be an infection. For now tell him NOT TO RUB HIS EYES. If they are infected he could be spreading the bacteria between his eyes.

Conjunctivitis or pink eye. Tell him NOT to rub them and make him apply a warm water compress or camomile teabags to the affected eye (Have one for each eye if it's both).

If they look or feel sticky as well, that's definitely it.

Otherwise it could be hayfever.... otherwise I'm not too sure

It probably is allergies! Pets are the most common! Or if he is exposed to chlorine. Their is an increase of pollen as well!

Sounds like an allergy, or hayfever. GP will advise.
