Two thunderstorms passed through my area yesterday and both affected the power. I wasn't at home when it happened. I did try the "Help" and search for the answer but neither were very helpful. I would greatly appreciate basic step by step instructions for this illiterate computer operator...thank you.

A tad vague

Are you stuck in safe mode now or every time you turn the system on. If it is just now then yes simply reboot.

It it is all the time then I suggest you:

Reboot the system
Keep Tapping F8
A new Boot up menu will appear
Select Start Windows 98 Normally

The new boot up should revert back to the normal version of Windows 98.

I hope this helps

Please email me for help I am online for the next four hours
as of now

Normally all you have to do it reboot the computer. If that doesn't work try pressing the F8 button after the Manufacturer Screen when you boot. It will allow you to select your method of startup. If that does not work i would suggest checking out Microsoft's Knowledge Base at the link below. Be warned though microsoft no longer supports Win98.

The thunderstorm probably did a power surge and corrupted your operating system. You will need to reload it. Put the CD in the drive, and follow the directions.

what you need to do is restart your computer...then on like the 2nd screen that comes up when it starts its going to say something like safe mode F5 and normal mode F7 [those arent the real keys you need to push, because i just made those up off of the top of my head] and push whatever key is next to normal mode and that should do the trick
