Most reasonable atheists don't feel that the omission of something is that relevant to their lives. Haven't you noticed it's usually the fanatics who think that atheists are some persecuted minority that go around announcing that they're atheists? It seems that many atheists in this forum must not be so happy after all, otherwise why would they need to seek out a religion and spirituality section to bash people for having a religion. And it's not like they only posted one or two questions, some atheists have made numerous posts just for the sake of venting. If you didn't believe in aliens, would you go on an aliens forum to tell them how much smarter you are than them for not believing in aliens? Not believing in aliens or a god should not be considered a philosophy, but merely a response to not having tangible proof. It's just part of human nature to be skeptical without seeing, even among the majority of religious people who merely proclaim to have faith.

Agnosticism is a default position. Atheism is the active contemplation and ultimate rejection of the concept of God.

Actually, historically, the belief in God was the default. Only in recent years is this not true. Your phrase, "omission of something" is not applicable. Your claim that the atheists are here proves a void is incorrect. It means you don't know the difference between a religion and a discussion. Your premises are meaningless and your logic is shoddy.

Basically you are saying why are atheist on the relion section(it's also for the spiritual but you probably don't care about that). This is asked a million times a day. Bottom line is that both sides call each other out. And when someone calls you out you got to respond and voice your opinion.

I don't understand why some people allow any label to define themselves as human beings. Everybody is a human being and no label can or should be able to define anybody. People should be defined based on things such as their character, personality and in terms of morality.

You started out making sense.
I do not define myself as an atheist - except out here.
I'm not going into how or why I ended up here in R&S. Suffice it to say I have graced it with my presence. Out here one tends to define themselves by their "religion" simply in defense.
Not sure that makes sense. Getting sleepy.

We don't bash people for having religion - we bash irrational thinking/ delusion... which just so appears to include theism.

Atheists tend to consider themselves smarter than anyone who ascribes to a religion. To me they are weak minded. They are afraid to actually take a stand for something and possibly be wrong, so they only admit to what they can see and prove scientifically.
They have a lot of catch phrases and point out the wrongess of anyone's beliefs except theirs. I guess by definition they qualify as a cult.
