Well if you feel that way, why are you "thanking god"? You just totally contradicted yourself. It is ok. Although you dont believe it, the spirit of God dwells in you for you to even say "thank god". I can understand why you think and feel the way you do. At one time or another, everyone lacks belief in God and spirits, devil. But regardless if you believe or not, they do exist and faith is our only saving grace that will carry us through life, and faith leads to hope of the reward after life. When you draw your last breath before you die, pay attention if you can to whom you call upon. Dont you know we all call on the Lord when we are about to die..even the most wicked? I will pray for you so you can increase your faith, hope. Take care of your soul...it is very important!

Most religions have this capability. But there are many that can believe one way and be fine. If only people could think for themselves it would be okay, sadly many cannot.
Most wars have been started in one way or the other over religion. What human beings seek is a connection to something but what they don't realize is we are all one and everything is connected.

Not all religions are like that. There are some religions such as Buddhism and Taoism and certain others that are philosophical. But depending on the individual who is involved any religion or person can become fanatical if they allow it to take total control of their lives.

"they manipulate humanity and brainwash most of us (not me! Thanks god) to a life of mostly malevolent irrationality."
Your description applies just as well to politics as religion. Hey, I think you may be onto something.

It depends on the person and thier nature. If they tend to lean that way, then anything that they really believe will make them be fanatics It is a reaction to a set of beliefs.

No. I think people in each religion can become a fanatic if they don't keep their focus on God.
And even you are thanking God.

Not true in all cases. It can give rise to fanaticism but doesn't always do so.
