There are two theories of why dogs eat grass, one, the obvious that everyone knows is to make themselves vomit. I don't know why but I have seen them eat a bunch of grass and then yack it up with bile and phlegm. The other is that they simply want some greens in their diet. This is also possible so, give them broccoli stalks. It's better for them, cleans the teeth and freshens the breath.
In fact it is better to discourage the dog from gulping down long blades of grass because if can actually get tangled in their intestines and cause a whole different problem.

Actually. Dog can digest Grass. Any animal from the family Canidae (dogs, wolves, foxes) are actually Omnivors. They are more than capable digesting plant matter, and often seek it out in thier diet. Your dog eating grass should not have you concerned at all. Unless he is vomiting an absurd amount, or generally "acting off". (then i suggest taking him/her to a vet, or at least calling to ask about the severity of the situation)

It is cats (felidae family) that are the only true carnivors unable to digest plant matter (this is why most large cats eat the stomach contents of prey fist because it is partially digested plant matter, which makes it able for thier bodies to extract nutrients from it).

Dogs eat grass to help balance their digestive system. Its undigestable however it lessons the acid in the their stomachs.

With a pup that has a tummy ache lots of grass will make them vomit and relieve the ache.

It's stomach is upset and it is trying to make itself vomit or it could be lacking some nutrients. Either way check with a vet to make sure that it is nothing severe.
