very interesting,.
To my knowledge, pride is not nor has never been considered a virtue.
God actually hates pride.
However, is it healthy to be proud of your children? Is being proud of an accomplishment (such as getting perfect on a test you really studied hard for) a sin?
I would have to say no - as I can see Jesus clapping right along with you and saying "way to go!". Probably the balance lies in appropriately knowing how to differentiate between puffed up pride and humility in knowing that it's all good in the end - no matter who done it.
I can be proud of my kids, but not to the degree that I take every opportunity to spout about their accomplishments and how much better they are than anyone else's.
Good question!

That is a good question
You can take pride in and not be proud
If you are proud of your humility that's some different.
It can be a sin, it can be a virtue and it can be both. Others may notice pride but only the person speaking can verify the same. On the other hand they may not recognize what they sound like.
The Bible looks at both with specific meaning in each scripture depending on that circumstance and context.
two item:if we call virtue & pride two sides of the same coin. Flip the coin--it may be virtue--it may be sin--in that given context
Is it a sin to take pride in your childs accomplishments?
Is it a sin to say"I take pride in the way I handled that situation?

Interesting question! Pride is a sin in all forms of Christianity but for Aristotle the quality of Great Souledness (Megalopsychia) contains an attitude that would be described as Pride by many Christians.

It's a sin; in fact, it was the very first sin, even before Adam and Eve! It was the sin of Lucifer, before he fell from Heaven. He was a beautiful angel, very well respected and had a very high position. But he let pride go to his head, and he began to believe that he could do a better job of running the universe than God.

Pride as in arrogance and boastfulness is a sin. Pride in the sense of self-respect or confidence (especially confidence in God), is a virtue. ;o)

In the bible 1 John 2:16 " For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. God despises pride.

I believe it can be both. You should definitely have pride in your beliefs but you should not push them onto others. But pride can be a very dangerous thing...we all need to learn to be humble but at the same time stand up for ourselves and what we believe in.

Pride is perhaps the greatest sin... it is the opposite of humility (which God considers a great virtue).

i think it can be both. people who have low self esteem need a little pride, and kings and presidents need pride, etc. but people with TOO MUCH pride is where it turns to be a sin.

Nothin wrong with feeling good about yourself, or things that you accomplished. I only gets to be a problem really, when that is all you can see. When it overshadows your relationships, when you feel like you're better than everybody else, when you bore them to tears with it, then it's a problem, and especially if it's false pride, and you are bolstering a low self esteem at someone else's expense. When the Angel fell, it was not that he felt good about who he was, but that he felt like he was better than God.
