I wear gloves if I have to use a keyboard other than my own. I also have special gloves in my car for when I have to pump gas. People do sometimes laugh, but I don't care. A lot of people have OCD tendencies. In bathrooms, I just try to do everything with my feet.

Yeah, esp if you are the janitor. hahaha

getting bad in some public places....
you gotta wash your hands when you first go in
after touching the door unless you open it by foot.
gotta wash your hands when you are done....
and make sure you pull out about 6 feet of towels first.
the first part you touched....and so did everyone else.
then you wash your hands....without turning off water....
dry your hands,. and then use part of the towel to turn off water
then use part of towel to open the door...if it points inwards
toss towel over shoulder to the trash can
.. if the nasty place has one

and in some gas stations ive been in...
save part of the towel to turn the faucet on outside...
to wash your shoes before you get back in the car.
because all the slurping noises they made on the floor
and the fact it was hard to walk, felt like glue
and you just know it will rip the carpet out of your car
if your feet touch it.....

ive seen a bathroom at the mall... i wont go into detail.....
but the celing was brown.... and clumped.... and all up and
down the walls..... and from looking at it
you KNOW it wasnt water damage from a leaky roof.

Don't know if you know this but they've done tests inside public places and have found that the cleanest part of a public building is the toilet seat! Gross I know, but true. I'd say stick with tissue and keep a mini bottle of hand sanatizer with you instead. You'll look very weird doing that.

Bathrooms aren't all that dirty. It'd be better to use these gloves when you touch doorknobs, or share a phone or a keyboard. Many more germs on these.

Keep some hand sanitizer with you in a small bottle, if it worries you.

It may look strange, and it's almost certainly unnecessary, but it doesn't violate any etiquette rule.

In fact, the primary etiquette rule for public restrooms is that you shouldn't look too closely at what other people are doing. The folks who think that your idea is rude are breaking that rule.

To be honest, no, its not.

If you are uncomfortable with the level of cleanliness in public bathrooms then don't use them.

The human body is tough and designed to keep disease etc. outside, surgical gloves will make you look like a serial killer.

Only if you are performing surgery there.

Otherwise, it is rude.
You do realize, don't you, that your cafeteria tray or your keyboard has a lot more germs than any place in the normal bathroom?

People who want to remain as germ-free as possible wash their hands, then keep a towel to open the restroom door.

You better beleive it. There's no telling who or what is in there waiting for you as far as germs are concerned.

It is a little excessive when just good hand washing would suffice.
