My bf and I talked a week ago and he said he is going through alot with his business right now and that he was overwhelmed with stress. I tried to encourage him but in the end he said he was self loathing and that I deserve more attention right now and he broke up with me. I'm fine with that... but I value his friendship more than anything. We both came through a divorce and he makes me laugh like crazy. I don't need the relationship, I just want a friend. Everyone tells me not to call him but its killing me. I care about him and I want to make sure hes okay. What do I do? I'm really hurting.

That's weak. But here is the truth:

Men and women cannot be friends #8

This is especially true when you've had a relationship with the person. You have permanently contaminated each other mentally and there is no turning back.

You need to just get over the guy honey. Here's the deal. You should thank him for doing this now rather than after you married him and kids with him or something. He just showed his true colors and that's all there is to it.

Take a deep breath. Life is not done with you yet. Love will come at it's own time. Give your friend some time. Stress is horrible, can hurt your health and more, so just give him the space he needs right now and I think then he will know you really are a true friend. Good luck, and much love.

Call him, just to see how he's doing. Tell him you understand and accept that you're broken up, but you know you could both use the friendship. Offer support. If he declines your offer, then don't be offended. You've left it open at least for him. He'll appreciate that much. Give him time to figure out how to handle his stress.

Call and tell him you were just thinking about him and if he wants to talk you are there for him. Keep it short and to the point. Tell him a time you will be around (say saturday afternoon I am free?? or when ever) see if he would like to meet for coffee and to catch up.

It's not always wise to listen to others in heart related matters.
Sometimes need to look and listen to what heart says.
'Live, laugh and get along with happiness'. Because who knows whether you get him tomorrow or not! Sometimes obviously you need to listen to your heart. Because it's rare to get a person who makes you laugh and feel good. why not even if he is just a friend

Write him a letter or text him or e-mail him. Just say, " hey just wanted to say hi to an old friend." See if he would write or call back from there.

i don't know why you shouldn't call? if you were friends before you went out; that is. sometimes calling can seem pushy. if you decide to call, just simply let him know you're there for him, and leave it at that unless he takes it farther.

If you push it now you could push him away. He obviously has some issues to work out WITHOUT your help. Give him time.
