Do you have access to a gym or fitness center?? If so, thats a great way to get in shape
Work on weight lifting and possibly get a mentor or a friend who can help and spot you. Many exercises should not be done on your own.
Just be sure to not push yourself and slowly build up to larger weights.
Also, running is great exercise. In a gym is fine, but if you are able to run outdoors, the fresh air is great for you too.
Lastly, be sure to fully stretch before and after exercise and again, don't over-exert yourself.
Now for dieting:
Now that you are exercising, its natural (and expected) that you will be more hungry. Don't ignore this hunger, feed it. But not with unhealthy foods.
Think about what you eat in a typical day. Most people know whats healthy and whats not (if not google it) so you can start to replace things in your diet that are unhealthy with healthier things. You'd be surprised how good healthy things taste, and once you get into a routine, its easy. You can find lots of healthy foods in the natural organic section of a supermarket, so thats a good place to start to look.
Also, throughout all of this, a key thing is to drink lots of water. Cut out any soda or unhealthy drinks (it may sound hard, but once you're used to it, they don't even taste good anymore) and replace them with water, juices, teas, etc.
Good luck!
