Once food is thawed in the refrigerator, it is safe to refreeze it without cooking, although there may be a loss of quality due to the moisture lost through defrosting. After cooking raw foods which were previously frozen, it is safe to freeze the cooked foods. If previously cooked foods are thawed in the refrigerator, you may refreeze the unused portion.

If you purchase previously frozen meat, poultry or fish at a retail store, you can refreeze if it has been handled properly.

There is no problem freezing the meat/chicken once it has been turned in to a dish. There are just a few tips to ensure it stays fresh:

1. Let the dish cool down before putting it in the freezer (but not overnight or anything like that)
2. Make sure you store it in a proper freezer container (good sealed lid)
3. Do not store it for more than 3 months before reheating
4. Do not reheat it then refreeze it.
5. Once it has been reheated it is better not to store any leftovers so freeze portions that you know will get used

Yes... It's common for people to buy fresh chicken, especially when on sale, and freeze one or two for later use.

Yes, you can refreeze the chicken dish after you've cooked it.

The concern with freezing, thawing and refreezing uncooked chicken is that the bacteria in the uncooked chicken may grow with each freeze-thaw cycle. However, once you cook the chicken that's something different since bacteria of concern are killed in the cooking process. Now the main concern is the quality of the dish, such as freezer burn.

Since I have been pregnant fast food has pretty much been the last thing I have wanted. I will go out t eat at places and a lot more then usual. But I still cook at home for us bc my husband likes my food the best and I usually do as well. I started buying those frozen bags of pasta with chicken and all that and wow their really good and fast, you just put then in a pan pretty much. I like them bc their fast bc like you said some days you just don't feel like standing in a hot kitchen and sometimes you just want food now not later. I seem to eat a lot of fruit, veggies, and turkey sandwiches these days too.

yes: once it has been cooked, leave it to cool (loosely covered) then package in whatever form you want then freeze. The bacteria that is on fresh meat is put in to stasis by the freezing process, comes back to life when thawed and is then killed by the cooking process. When you reheat the food make sure that it is thouroughly defrosted first and is then piping hot all the way through before serving.

Yes, fresh meat/poultry can be frozen, ...then thawed to be cooked. You cannot re-freeze the meat itself again, but if you cook it up in a dish, (say spaghetti, or chili, etc.) you can however freeze that dish of whatever you cooked and put it in the freezer.

You can freeze it when you get home from the grocery store and thaw it to use later, but you cannot refreeze it after thawing, you have to eat it right away.

Yes anything can be put up for storage and kept in the freezer to be kept fresh. The food you freeze also stops on that day and when you unfreeze it its still fresh well Hope that helps ^_^.

yes, but if it is something cooked remember to let it cool properly(come to room temp) b4 putting it in the fridge. if it is not allowed to cool properly it will spoil ( very importante!)

any cooked food should cool to room temp before being frozen or put in the refridgerator.
