Get back to the teachings of the first century church.

Do away with the obligatory formalities that were generated during the empire church of Rome, after 300AD. Those were formed to keep poeple obliged to the church of Rome more than to God. It worked well for them when people were less educated and the printing press had yet to be invented, limiting the availability of the Bible for all to read.

People are leaving because they are finding that they don't need those things to get close to God -- many of them actually conterdicting the teachings of Jesus -- and desire a more personal relationship with Him.

Not trying to be harsh here. If you look at the history of the church and development of its doctrines and compare those to the teachings of the New Testament with open eyes it shouldn't be hard to see.

I am not saying that Catholics are bad or anything like that.
