Don't give the rest of us (atheists or agnostics) a bad name by doing this. This is an unintelligent, rude, and undebatable question. And the fact that you've asked it makes it harder for me to debate in the future. Because I will be held accountable for your stupidity. So, go hang yourself.

As if you have somehow arrived at the pinnacle of human knowledge. Please! We all interpret things in light of what we believe. Paradigmatically, I don't think you can independently justify the belief system through which you interpret reality against the religious beliefs of others. Ultimately, all people are inconsistent on some level and unable to account for all of the information within the context of their system. In the future, there will probably be a paradigm through which those who look back on your worldview will mock your ignorance. Hopefully, the Day will come when mankind will view history through a paradigm which understands your short-sightedness in its context.

It's called compartmentalization of the mind. It's like creating a partition that separates daily life from religious belief and having 2 different kinds of thought processes that govern them. That old saying that the church makes people check ones brain at the church door much like a winter coat is not far off.

This seems more of a diatribe than a question, so I will leave you with a good quote:
Thomas Jefferson once said, “Ridicule is the only weapon which can be used against unintelligible propositions. Ideas must be a distinct idea of the trinity. It is the abracadabra of the mountebanks calling themselves the priests of Jesus”

Because they withhold their critical thinking when it comes to religion. They will be skeptical with any off-the-wall crap you throw at them like ESP and Bigfoot, but not when it comes to their own religion. They don't want to be because deep down they know what they will find. It's conscious denial of the evidence and an unwillingness to look for new evidence.

We all have to believe something.
I believe that there are two kinds of people in the world.
Those that believe in a Creator because they want to and those that believe there is not a Creator because they want to.
The only difference to me is that we all choose to believe different things about stuff that no one can prove or disprove.

Are you suggesting Sir Isaac Newton believed in crap? Isaac Newton wrote as much theology as he did science. Since he was a devout believer are you not suggesting that the science he believed in is crap as well? Are you not contradicting yourself?

Brainwashing goes a long way. It is hard to reason someone out of a position they have not reasoned themselves into.
