If you have no bail bondsperson, then you must come up with the cash in the amount of the bail in order to get them out. You can ask the judge for a cash alternative to the bond, but the judge is under no obligation to grant that.
A bondsperson will charge you about 10% of the bond, and then you can get them out.

Well.. if you can't raise bail.. then your buddy will have to wait it out. Keep in mind that if they say $10,000 bail.. you only need to raise 10%... $1,000.
