do you think illegal immigration killed Los Angeles?

I grew up in Los Angeles in the 70's and talking to many people who also grew up in the 70's and early part of the 60's they say LA is worse because of illegal immigration now. Also do you think the reason many blacks and whites are moving out of Los Angeles is because of illegal immigration?

the whites and blacks are moving because the illegals want to control the streets. i saw a news report where a Mexican called the blacks the N word. he made the news reporter mad. and all the gang writing on the walls telling the blacks to move N. really sick and sad. i would be damned if a person who acts like an animal would make me move. I'd be calling the police and ins to get the trash removed. and if they didn't do their jobs, I'd be suing the hell out of the city.

There hasn't been a town that hasn't been destroyed by a majority of illegals. I have yet to see any improvement in any of them.

I read an article in our newspaper a few days ago about Latinos and their groups concerned about Latino issues.......they were responsible for like 75% of the increase in population and were wanting to press for more since blacks and whites were leaving in record numbers. Not dying....leaving. Nothing about why...or how can we work better for more integrated neighborhoods, it was how to make them totally latino areas. Now in a couple decades are we going to have forced busing for more racially diverse schools and all that.....AGAIN. Wasn't enough learned the last time around? Run these towns into the ground and then move on to destroy the next?

I find it funny gangs can claim their territory and run people out but citizens are so awful when they expect our borders respected and laws obeyed. It's not enough to be here or be PART of a community....they want it ALL. Even with their own math they admitted that like 40% were legal and the rest illegal. And they call us racist?

Yes it has and I blame the government. They know the corporations run this country and they want to downsize and pay less to employees. Thats how you can become more rich pay less and cut health care no pay vacations etc. It's a trade off our government is full of sh--. I'm cool with hispanics who come here and do it the right way and learn the language and adapt to this country but the ones who refuse and show disrepect for the natives of this country I don't support them.
I can say I have seen some states who have tough immigration bills in effect I think I'm moving to one of those states because I can't take it here in Los Angeles it's a third world country here. I have a homie who is mexican and even he said damn why don't they learn english?

Los Angeles isn't quite dead yet, LOL. I live in Los Angeles.

One of the factors making Los Angeles less livable these days is "urban densification." In my neighborhood, single family homes were torn down and replaced with apartment buildings. Heck, garages were replaced with apartment buildings. Putting more people in a smaller area increases the likelihood that gangs will form, which brings a disproportionate increase in crime. Unfortunate. Poor thinking behind zoning changes changed the character of this neighborhood.

LA was a fairly nice place to live back in the 60's and 70's. It's terrible today. Illegal immigration might not be totally responsible, but it's a significant factor.

Actually, it MAY be because of immigration, but not illegal immigration necessarily. During many years, Central America was oppressed by the fights between communists and rightists, and many people (especially from El Salvador) emigrated with a political asylum status. Then they started forming gangs, not because they were Hispanic, but because many of them had low education and felt "bullied" by Mexican Gangs. So it was then when the wars between gangs started forming, making Los Angeles not a very nice place to live in.

Just because the whites use the N word, does not excuse every other ethnic group to do the same thing. The term is very racist, and whoever uses it is just as racist as the whites who use it.

I believe that the illegal alien gangmembers are "killing" L.A. and forcing a mass exodus. Overpopulation is causing economic and education problems too. The hispanic gangs are growing by the thousands. That city is a timebomb about to explode in racial warfare.

It has at least pretty much killed the middle class in Los Angeles. There is very little left.

It has hurt LA just as it hurts the rest of the state. LA schools are the pits but just a few years ago they were tops. I live in Bakersfield and there are 3 hit and runs on some days and it is most often due to illegals without insurance. I am sure being from La you know that drill. Many of the violent crimes here are done by illegals and the gangs such as MS 13 are growing and getting more violent.

i think its a combination of illegal immigration and a kalifornia attitude. in some of the smaller towns ive been to, the immigrants have been forced to learn english to survive. on the left coast, everything is given to them so there is no need to learn
