Hello, I have never done this before but I need some advice. I am the fiance of an Iraqi war verteran. He has been home for 2 years now. Our wedding would be 5 months away. However, he was issued an order warning for possible deployment to Iraq. We have had to cancel everything. It looks as if they are 99.9% sure that he will be leaving most likely before the start of the summer. My question is......should we move up the wedding and get married before his deployment. He is my world and deployed or not deployed I want to be with him for forever. I need some advice....thank you so much for your time. God bless all of those in our military and their families...my thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I am sorry for what you must be going through. This same thing happened to my friend. I would say the same thing as the first person. Get married before he leaves with just your family there. And when he comes back you can plan a big wedding. It will be like a welcome home party for him too. You dont want to rush a big wedding and you dont want to not be married incase (God forbid) but incase something goes wrong. Good luck and God Bless him and all our soldiers.

Do what you both want. It sounds like you would like to marry before he is deployed. I'd say do it, absolutely. If a big wedding is important then you could have a small wedding with family and then have a big reception when he returns including friends, co-workers,etc. I wish you both the best of luck. Thoughts and prayers are with you.

I agree with person #2. You should have a small wedding with your parents before he leaves and then a big Welcome-Home-I-Love-You-So-Much! wedding when he gets back. I wish you all the best, congratulations, and I'm praying for you! God bless our soldiers!!!

Why don't the two of you just go and elope. Have a traditional wedding when he comes back...The most important thing is that you are married before he leaves...not the fancy shmancy stuff..
