Does anyone else put an ice cube in their hot coffee to cool it down a little so you can enjoy it right away without scalding your mouth, or am I just weird?

This is not something I recommend.

The thing is, a good cup of coffee is often tied to the ratio of the coffee beans and the water when it is brewed. When you put an ice cube in the coffee, you are throwing off that balance and diluting it. The slightest change to this will impact it.

Let the coffee sit a minute or two. You may want to put some cream in the cup instead, but you also need to be careful not to take away from the original flavor.

However, the bottom line - what I say above may not mean anything if you still enjoy the coffee. That always is the bottom line.

My husband does this. He drinks his black. I put milk in my coffee, so I ususally warm the milk up in the microwave to make sure my coffee is hot enough
