Depends how extreme you wanna go.....

Scenario one)

You have to make great personal sacrifice to save the life of the person you love. Example: swimming shark infested waters when he/she is drowning. There is no question here. Do it. Save them. Better you both die than you live on in misery and guilt at not having tried.

Scenario two) Your beau demands that to prove the sincerity of your love you must bring them five fresh human heads. No way man.....they are nuts and dont love you.

Scenario Three) Terrorist blow out the engines of the plane you are on. Thirty seconds later your plumeting towards the ground at 200 mph. There arent enough parachutes. You have one and so does the guy next to you but your darling sweetie does not. A grey area it would seem....do you beat the guy next to you? Do you sacricfice yourself?

However -I dont really think this is what your getting at...all this life/ death stuff.

What I think your getting at is something more along the lines of "Is it ok to screw up in a relationship if it works out for the best?" or "Is it ok to lie to my partner as long as I'm doing it to save hurting them unecessarily?" Please be more specific and I'm sure folks will help you. I think yes to these two questions.

It means at all costs for the most part. Means that what ever steps you have to take to get to a goal, will be justified by meeting the goal.

Means it was worth all you had to do, to get the end result. So in esssence, it means the end result, excuses/justifies your methods of attaining the end result.
