Hating is not an option if you believe in God.

Hate is a very strong emotion and I don't know about you but really I can not think of anyone that I truly hate. There are people I truly don't like and I don't think God expects us to be all kissey face with everyone. However, we are not to hold any malicious thoughts or commit evil against others. We are to try and live at peace as best we can with all folks. Not always easy, but that is the way God wants us to be.

You must love all human beings period.
You can hate the way a person lives his life.
Would you rather have someone love you because you are
a human body or because you are a good person?
So yes God commands you to love all human beings
but unless someone is a good person it does not mean much.
It would be like loving someone who lives in a vegetative state.

Standard fundamental Baptist answer? Love the sinner, hate the sin." But technically, no, it's love or nothing, but also an impossible standard/goal to achieve. One of the reasons monasteries and the like exist is so "holy people" can withdraw from the world, therefore, avoid much sin...like hate.

It's natural for a human being to hate someone...even though they know that God tells one to love each other. So...yes, a person can hate someone BUT they shouldn't.

Christians seem to find it all too easy to ignore the command to love your neighbor. Throughout history right up through the present day (and all to often here on R&S) we see hate when Jesus preached love. Not that I'm surprised but it is one of the better messages of the NT that you are ignoring.

God calls us to love one another. He didn't ask us to like one another. There is a difference. We are not to do evil or wish evil on one another - that's not love, it's hate. But you can certainly dislike a person. People have personalities that sometimes do not work together. That's okay. There are people in my church family that I do not necessarily like, but I still love them as my brother or sister in Christ.

Unfortunately people do....I worked with a lady that hated me and I asked God to give me His love for her as I didn't hate her but I didn't love her...God changed my heart and she came in one day and said she had decided to be friends with everyone and we even became friends. It's not easy to love people that hate you if when you KNOW God wants you to love them.

rather god or your instinct tells you not to hate , it is so damn difficult not to hate some one who just stabbed you in the back! the realization is there , its the actual forgiveness I have a problem with , just being honest!

"Love" and "Hate"....
These are two very strong words.
Sure, we can feel that happy "love for mankind" thing...and it's real...
But can we actually "love" every person that we meet?
Human beings just don't seem to be wired that way. I like most people I meet, and I can get along with just about anyone.
"Hate"...you have to feel sorry for someone who harbors hatred for anyone in his heart. I can get mad, but I don't stay mad for very long...I can even dislike a person (rarely, but it happens), but I'm afraid I'm just too lazy to sustain "hate" for very long....
