It doesn't matter if it's your church or not. Where ever you find yourself that particular Sunday, give there. Whoever you give it to, it all gives God the glory. He doesn't care where it goes, as long as it goes to a church for Him. Giving money to charities is very nice, but that's considered your offering - not your tithe.

Tithing is really an O.T. concept because the priests, levites and Temple depended on that $$.New Testament giving should come from the heart and be given to whoever feeds you spiritually. Is it a radio ministry? Then you owe them just as you do a restaurant after you eat.Is it a TV guy(I don't know how it could be)then send a few bucks his way.God loves a hilarious giver but like I said if you want to tithe you actually need to give the total of 26%,not just 10%.Do it the right way and build up a bank account in glory.

What the Bible says is that a very rich man met a holy man and gave him 10% of his goods. The churches translated that into a get-rich-quick scam by saying this means everyone must give 10% of their income to them. This is why religious leaders are so rich while some members of their congregations let their kids go hungry to keep the church leaders rich.

If you are well off and want to give 10%, give it to a worthy fund like the Red Cross or St. Jude's hospital for kids. If you can't afford it then charity begins at home and ends at the door.

What makes you think that you are obligated to just one church? Why couldn't you give each church you attend an equal measure of your tithing according to your attendance at each?

Also, Biblical scripture regarding the tithing, obligates Christians to give tithing to Christ's Church, which is not confined to any organized denomination or single church institution, but is instead defined as the multitude of Christian believers joined together in Christ.

Following this logic, you could set aside 10% of your income for the sole purpose of using it to help fellow Christians, rather than financing you pastor's / preacher's / priest's vacation. If you sincerely pray about what you should do with your tithe, God will show you the best method in which to use it to His glory.

"For inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me."

In the OT, the priests were the ones that collected tithes, as Melchizadek (Noah's son Shem) did for Abraham. Jesus and Paul both said in the NT that Christ accomplished and replaced the Levitical (Aaronic) priesthood, "becoming a High Priest like unto Melchizadek." In other words, you would pay tithes unto Christ.

Since Christ knew He would not be around, he left the commandment above (my first sentence) as a way of telling Christians how to deal with such issues. When we give to the poor, clothe the naked, feed the hungry, etc, we are doing it unto Christ. If you belong to a Church that has such programs, and your donations go to funding such programs, then you are fulfilling Christ's words. If you don't belong to a Church, then you need to find a place to donate your money that will go to servicing the poor.

Tithe in the OT was "a tenth part of all", which is meant to say a tenth of your entire income. Christ never claimed to accomplish the law of the tithe, only to replace the lesser priesthood.

Actually, the Bible doesn't even mention 10% or tithing as they did in the Old Testament.

We are instructed to "Give as we have prospered" but there is no mention of 10%.

The following verse describes the weekly offerings of the early Church.

"Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come." 1 Corinthians 16: 2

It's is always good to pray about it first. The scriptures says acknowlegde the Lord in all thy ways and He will direct thy paths. If you do that, God will show you which church to give it to. I had a situation come up where I needed to pay my tithes, but a homeless man was in need of food. The Lord showed me to use my tithes to feed Him. My point is this, if you are not in a particular church, you have to be open to however and where ever God wants you to use your money. He might tell you to send it to a ministry on Television, but God still honors that you gave you tithe to His praise and glory.

You need to get in a church.., but meantime put it aside and pray about where to give it.
If you are going to several different churches then spread it among them..
But tithing may be in the old testament, but it establishes that the tithe belongs to God and when you don't tithe you are robbing God..
The book of Malachi says to bring it to the store house, which would be the church.

It seems you already have a understanding that as a Christian you should be "rooted" in a church somewhere in your area. But my best advice to you is to use your tithe to support a legitimate work of God that is happening beyond your community. ie, support a missions or Dr. Billy Graham. The kingdom of God here on this earth does need your support in prayer and finances. I hope I helped somewhat. Thank you.

Give your 10% tithes of yourself. Help those that need help. If you see a homeless person buy that person a meal and tell him or her God Bless you. That list is endless, and are all tithes. They just don't go to a specific organization.
