skin pigmentation determines color

Some animals are green. Frogs and toads are green. There's green birds and green insects. There's green fish. Why are they green? I'm not sure that anybody knows except that some animals use color to hide from predators.

Usually, animals are a color because it helps them. A lot of green animals, like snakes, like to hide in the grass or in the trees so that other animals can't find them and attack them, and so that they can sneak up on food.

Animals are usually the color they are so they can be less visible in their surroundings. Green animals usually live around green plants so other animals that might hurt them can't see them.

Lol.............well any animal can be any colour...depending on its surroundings....................a colour is taken by natural selection..............................for example...a lion lives in the grasslands..hencs he has that beige kinda color..............................................in the same way........sum snakes or lizards can be green too......as also birds like the parrot.................

however...the polar bear.which is white.can also turn a mild shade of green....due to the accumulation of green moss and microbes in its hide!!!!!!!!!!!

I believe it has to do with their environment and pigmentation coloring. Sometimes it has to do with camouflage.
