Hi. My daughter is 3 1/2 and only weighs 27 lbs. Her doctor says that she is just going to be petite and tells me not to worry about it. The only suggestions that our Pediatrician really made is that we don't let her drink and snack all day so that when she eats, she will be hungry. She also put her on a vitamin. If your doctor is treating you that way, I would go to another doctor. I know how bothersome this can be, my daughter can just now wear a size 2 in pants! Everyone says she is so tiny. What I would suggest though is going to another doctor and taking her records. The main thing is that she is growing. My daughter stayed at 20 lbs for the longest time, it was almost like she was stuck there! Another thing that I have started to do is buying Nutripals and Pediasure for my daughter. I know how frustrating it is...I promise! I bet your daughter is just going to be small though, but I would get a second opinion. Good luck. Let me know if you have any other questions.

My 4 year old only weighs 25 lbs and is 34 inches tall. She's in the 5 percentile and has grown consistently within that 5%. She eats plenty and is active. She's healthy and happy and her pediatrician says she is fine. Her doctor asked about both sides of the family and determined that she most definately will be pettite. I am small and she seems to favor my side of the family. It's fine when they're girls and little..don't worry, you know you're doing the right thing :o)

My little girl is almost 5 and only weights 30lbs. Her Dr. says she is perfectly healthy. Some kids are just naturally small. My daughter is in the 4th percentile on the growth charts at her Dr.s office. I wouldn't worry to much about it. I have tried everything to make her gain weight but it just doesn't work. She is so active. Her metabolism is very high. We had a party when she reached 30 lbs. So I promise you she is fine.

I have the same problem that you do, my daughters are twins and they only weigh like 30 pounds. My doctor says they are perfectly healthy for their age. It is just that are petite. There is not really much that you can do, you are already doing all you can by feeding her and everything. I was concerned when they did not weigh that much, but my doctor told me that it was fine. Hope things go better for you.

My 5 year old is very slim as well. She weighs barely 40 lbs. Try to feed her peanut butter (if she's not allergic, that is) and a higher content of protein.

Try feeding her more protein and iron.....peanut butter is good, bread lots of starches and beans too. My son is 25 pounds and only 17 months!

i was 29 lbs at 10

as long as she's proportiant it's cool

ask your doc what her bmi is

get a bone age and thyroid test (doc will know what these are) to make sure she's just small and there's nothing wrong

she's eating so I wouldn't worry but try her on some pediasure milk shakes. Switch doctors if you feel your not being treated fairly.
